Mama of this empty nest, I’m content to live a quiet, country life with my husband of 40+ years and to view gorgeous sunsets off our own back yard deck. Mama to three adults and Nana to adorable grandchildren, my empty nest fills up again with noise and laughter when they all return 'home'. A former English teacher, reporter/editor, education director for a non-profit organization, and stay at home mom, I retired after a season of substitute teaching at a private academy. Now I enjoy time spent with my grandchildren and family and writing words that seem to pour out of my soul or wandering around the countryside with my camera. Foremost, my faith sustains me as I meander through the empty nest stage of life. My favorite scripture is 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18: “Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” View All Posts

Ah, Reeling! I know why you are my friend…you are way too kind! Thank you for the lovely compliment, but honestly, I think I need to take a photography course. The only thing I could teach people would be “see something interesting, point your camera at it and shoot!” 😀

So unusual to see the trees still clothed in color with a blanket of lovely white snow on the ground! I love It! Thanks for sharing! 🙂

It was definitely an unusual sight. Usually by the time we get the first snow, all the leaves have fallen. Glad you liked the photo!

That’s what struck me about the picture – the color contrast. Funny, because I actually went outside to take a picture of something else but when I saw how the photo turned out, I knew I had to use it for a Wordless Wednesday.

Actually, the snow is all melted away — started to melt the next day. And it’s warmed up since then too; today temps are supposed to be near 60. I took this picture on Saturday when it was snowing. Thank you for the compliment! I just have a little point and shoot digital camera with a few settings on it. My husband thinks I need a better camera because I do ‘see’ pictures and my camera just doesn’t do them justice. Of course, maybe I just need a course in photography! 😉

Oh, yes, We took a weekend trip to W. VA, and saw many such “contrasts”. Perfect!
