My three – Christmas 1992

My sweet blogging friend, Dianna at These Days of Mine, tagged me to play along with this meme today.  Three thoughts for each question. It’s Christmas week, so why not have a little bit of fun?

Here goes:

Three names I answer to:

  1. Mom
  2. Mama
  3. Cindy

Three places I’ve called home:

  1. Beaverton, OR
  2. Overland Park, KS
  3. Lawton, OK

Three places I’ve worked:

  1. Teaching English at a high school
  2. Reporter/Editor at a newspaper
  3. Technical editor at a government contractor

Three things I love to watch:

  1. My adorable grand-baby
  2. Sunsets
  3. Snow falling

Three things I love to eat:

  1. Chocolate
  2. Pizza
  3. Someone else’s cooking!

Three things I’m looking forward to:

  1. My adult children filling the empty nest back up this week
  2. Celebrating Christmas with my family
  3. Spending time with all my kids (both homegrown and imported). Can you tell I’m excited my family will be here in the nest for Christmas?

Three fond Christmas memories:

  1. One Christmas Eve when I was about 4 years old hearing jingle bells outside and Santa came in my house to give me my gifts in person
  2. When our family of five couldn’t make it back home for Christmas and we all stayed in pajamas most of the day playing with our kids and their new toys and then went outside and played in the snow
  3. Every year going to Christmas Eve candlelight service at 11 pm and welcoming in Christmas morning at midnight

Three bloggers who might play along too:

  1. Patti at A New Day Dawns
  2. Dor at Virginia Views
  3. Margo at The Other Side of 55

But I’m opening up this meme for anyone else who wants to participate. If you want to join the fun, copy & paste, replacing your answers with mine.

And for my other readers, if you’d like, choose one prompt from the list and share your answers in the comments.  I’d especially love to hear about your three fond Christmas memories!

Mama of this empty nest, I’m content to live a quiet, country life with my husband of 40+ years and to view gorgeous sunsets off our own back yard deck. Mama to three adults and Nana to adorable grandchildren, my empty nest fills up again with noise and laughter when they all return 'home'. A former English teacher, reporter/editor, education director for a non-profit organization, and stay at home mom, I retired after a season of substitute teaching at a private academy. Now I enjoy time spent with my grandchildren and family and writing words that seem to pour out of my soul or wandering around the countryside with my camera. Foremost, my faith sustains me as I meander through the empty nest stage of life. My favorite scripture is 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18: “Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

  1. Thanks for the invitation. I posted my answers on MJ’s blog the week I was “off” from blogging, but I would love to share three fond Christmas memories with you.

    1. I was 3 or 4, and after hearing the commercial on TV, I wanted a “Black Label.” (beer) I have a photo of me on my new tricycle in front of the tree with it, too! LOL
    2. Another fond memory is a Christmas when my dad was laid off from the mines. I wasn’t much older than the previous memory, but I remember hearing there wouldn’t be much under the tree that year. Gifts I would have received when my aunts and uncles visited appeared under the tree that Christmas morning. I remember a stroller for my doll being there, much to my delight.
    3. My dad would go up the hill to the back of our lot to cut a pine tree and drag it to the house for us to decorate. Every year we hung the same ornaments, the plastic icicles, and tinsel.

    Happy New Year, Cindy.

  2. Love these, Cindy! (And I’m especially glad you like the Christmas memory prompt. I added that to the meme that MJ sent me!)
Yes, it’s easy to sense that you are SO excited about all of your family coming in for Christmas. I know your home will be overflowing with joy and love.
    Merry Christmas!
