Wordless Wednesday: stop and smell the roses
Author: Mama's Empty Nest
Mama of this empty nest, I’m content to live a quiet, country life with my husband of 40+ years and to view gorgeous sunsets off our own back yard deck. Mama to three adults and Nana to adorable grandchildren, my empty nest fills up again with noise and laughter when they all return 'home'. A former English teacher, reporter/editor, education director for a non-profit organization, and stay at home mom, I retired after a season of substitute teaching at a private academy. Now I enjoy time spent with my grandchildren and family and writing words that seem to pour out of my soul or wandering around the countryside with my camera. Foremost, my faith sustains me as I meander through the empty nest stage of life. My favorite scripture is 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18: “Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” View All Posts
Come as little children…they know to stop and smell the flowers, examine the bugs, etc.

It’s so fun watching her be amazed and interested in the most simple things. If only we could retain that child-like view of examining the world.

So sweet. Growing up too fast. Roses are beautiful. How is the freezer jam this year? Lol

She really is! No strawberry jam this year! Our strawberry plants stopped producing last summer and hubby tore them all out. Unfortunately, the new ones he planted this spring are not surviving. So sad. But the blueberries are going great guns.

It’s just been amazing to re-experience all of these ‘firsts’ with a grandchild. I love it! ❤

So adorable! And the trim on her shirt complements the roses – or vice versa!

And a rose by any other name would smell as sweet. 🙂

Oh my goodness – those curls! My granddaughter has just two at the back (but her hair IS finally starting to grow, and its coming in wavy!) This is an absolutely adorable photo! We’re so blessed to have these little ones in our lives, aren’t we?

Her hair is pretty thin but yes, those curls in the back are just too adorable, we think. Blessings abound for both of us, Margo! 🙂 How is the move coming along?

We’re getting packed (slowly) and have a firm moving date (July 22) but we take possession nearly a month earlier, so we can go back and forth a bit in between and get a few things done beforehand. Its stressful but we’re looking forward to starting the “Third Act” of our lives. I can’t wait to take my granddaughter for a walk in our new (acres of) woods (and show her the chickens that live next door!)
