Mama of this empty nest, I’m content to live a quiet, country life with my husband of 40+ years and to view gorgeous sunsets off our own back yard deck. Mama to three adults and Nana to adorable grandchildren, my empty nest fills up again with noise and laughter when they all return 'home'.
A former English teacher, reporter/editor, education director for a non-profit organization, and stay at home mom, I retired after a season of substitute teaching at a private academy. Now I enjoy time spent with my grandchildren and family and writing words that seem to pour out of my soul or wandering around the countryside with my camera.
Foremost, my faith sustains me as I meander through the empty nest stage of life. My favorite scripture is 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18: “Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

My younger daughter and I love blue hydrangeas. How lovely you have one in your front yard. This is an amazing bloom.

The blooms this year were absolutely gorgeous on it! I think the abundance of rain and cooler temps gave it a boost.

That title just popped in my head as soon as I decided to use the photo of the hydrangea for Wordless Wednesday. The color on them this year really is vibrant.

Oh, I am “green” with envy — I LOVE blue hydrangeas. Our soil changes the blooms to pink, and I’ve never taken time to learn what to do to change the soil…. and then do it!

We only have one bush in our front yard. Last year it didn’t have many blooms on it but this year – wow! The blooms are large and so very blue. I think our cooler summer and lots of rain may have produced them. They are gorgeous!

No kidding! We have one large bush in our front yard just full of the biggest blooms we’ve ever had on it. Must have been that cooler, rainy summer we had. I’m enjoying them!
