Wordless Wednesday: peony pink profusion
Author: Mama's Empty Nest
Mama of this empty nest, I’m content to live a quiet, country life with my husband of 40+ years and to view gorgeous sunsets off our own back yard deck. Mama to three adults and Nana to adorable grandchildren, my empty nest fills up again with noise and laughter when they all return 'home'. A former English teacher, reporter/editor, education director for a non-profit organization, and stay at home mom, I retired after a season of substitute teaching at a private academy. Now I enjoy time spent with my grandchildren and family and writing words that seem to pour out of my soul or wandering around the countryside with my camera. Foremost, my faith sustains me as I meander through the empty nest stage of life. My favorite scripture is 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18: “Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” View All Posts
That’s really pretty! Ours are just beginning to open now, but they are putting out more buds than I’ve ever seen them do.

Ours have a lot of blooms on them this year too. Unfortunately, we had a huge storm (with even a funnel cloud spotted nearby) and the pounding rain beat down the stalks so most of them are dropping and hanging their heads. 😦

One of our plants grew very tall this year and fortunately yesterday I raised the corral I had built around it to support them. Last night we had an inch of rain and they are still doing well this morning.

We’ve got 5 fairly large peony bushes on one side of our deck. Their perky pink color makes me happy (and they remind me of my mom since we transplanted them from her flower garden to ours a few years after she passed away).

We have several of them planted on the side of our deck. We transplanted them from my parents’ home years ago. They are all blooming right now and not only are they beautiful, but they smell divine too.
